G7
I was awakened this morning by another of Duke’s disastrous attempts to prepare food.
Somehow he managed to set off the smoke detectors in our apartment while making Eggo
waffles. That’s a whole other level of incompetence in the kitchen. Anyways, I stumbled
out into the living room to see what was wrong, and Duke was standing there with his
breakfast as if nothing had happened. It was a great way to start my day.
After a bit of debate, we decided that we would go on another adventure this afternoon.
Since downtown was a big disappointment yesterday, we decided we’d head in the
opposite direction today. Yellow Springs is a small former college town about twenty
minutes east of Wright State (in a pretty rural area). My sister had suggested we go there,
so we decided to check it out.
It was actually a pretty cool place. Way better than downtown.* It has a nice bike trail
and some interesting stores. My favorite part was the Lego shop. They had a great
selection, including a bunch of vintage Lego sets. They definitely had a few from the 90s
that I vividly remember building. Once I get my first paycheck, I’ll definitely be going
back. Hopefully I won’t spend all of my money there.
*Of course, it’s not hard to beat downtown Dayton.
Duke’s new obsession with Instagram has resurfaced in the last few days.** I’m not too
sure how I feel about this. There are definitely some good things to take pictures of here,
but does he really have to use Instagram?
**“Yeah, I’m a hipster now”
We were supposed to have a third person moving into our apartment today and living
here for the week, but nobody has arrived yet. We’re quite pleased about that.
Finally, I should mention that we are almost finished with the first season of How I Met
Your Mother. After two nights.
