Today was pretty much a half-day at work. At about noon we went to the picnic and ate some food and hung out with some of the PIWW and their kids. We didn''t spend too much time there, but when we were done there we just went home. Moral of this story - very little work gets done on Fridays.
Later in the afternoon we headed back to Columbus to play ultimate with Bre and her friends (Garrett referred to this as an "ultimate frisbee booty call"...he's kinda right). It was the first time I'd played an actual game of ultimate in months, but it turns out I don't suck. As a matter of fact, I'm still pretty good. It also turns out Roommate Time is back (definition - Roommate Time - the combination of me and Garrett in an athletic activity or sport that is superior to other individuals in that sport). I will also say it's the most fun I've had doing something athletic since I've been here. Basketball at the rec center kinda drags on sometimes because people call fouls on *everything* and it kills the action (among other reasons that I'm too sleepy to discuss); non-intense pickup games of ultimate are kinda perfect for just having fun.
It's a little interesting because so much in the past year or so I've been doing sports in a very competitive manner with all the President's Cup stuff and powderpuff and it's not that often that I get to play pickup sports (except basketball). I had kinda forgotten how nice it can be to just kinda play a sport solely for fun and not care as much about winning. I still enjoy competitive stuff because I enjoy the pursuit and feeling of victory in something that matters (among other reasons that I'm too sleepy to discuss), but at times it brought quite a bit of stress and pressure. I think that's part of why I really enjoyed today (among other reasons like the fact that I can still sorta ball at frisbee when I'm on my game, and I'm not too tired to discuss that).
I think I kinda poured my soul out on that one too much. Oh well... we ended the day with Steak 'n Shake, HIMYM, and more ice cream for Garrett.
Tomorrow will be epic.
