G25
After work today, Duke wanted to go to a going away celebration for one of his
coworkers who is leaving Dayton to go back to Puerto Rico. It started at four, because of
course everybody’s done working by four. The celebration was at a bar near the labs. It
was sort of an odd experience. Everybody there was at least ten years older than us, and
it’s a bit odd to be around coworkers/bosses outside of the office. I didn’t really know
any of them because they’re all people Duke works with. Even worse, they spent the
whole time talking about the science they’re doing. It’s cool and all, but do they seriously
need to talk about that stuff outside of work, too? Also, we were like the only people
there, because nobody else is in a bar at four on a Wednesday afternoon.
After dinner, Duke wanted to watch the ESPY awards. I don’t know why, but as I’ve
discussed, I don’t really know why he does anything that he does. Anyways, we’re
watching that now.
Our roommates seem to be gone for now. Every now and then, they go MIA for a few
days. They live in Columbus, so I guess they just go back home for a while. I haven’t
figured out any pattern to when they’re here and when they’re gone, and sometimes
it’s hard to tell whether or not they’re here because they spend most of their time in
their rooms with their headphones on. A few times I’ve been sitting in the living room,
thinking nobody else was in the apartment, and had one of them walk up behind me and
start talking to me. Actually, now that I think about it, that’s a bit creepy.
Duke spent a lot of time today complaining about a high school kid he works with who
apparently hasn’t been doing anything at work, which is making Duke’s life difficult.
I think it’s hilarious. Apparently Duke had to spend most of his time today moving
equipment around in a lab because he can’t do real work.
